How can I sabotage a lawn mower?

I mow the lawn for my neighbors. It's an alright mower, but a couple weeks ago, one of the self propelled wheels stopped turning. My cheap neighbors refuse to fix it so I was wondering if I could maybe put something inconspicuous in the gas tank or something of that sort. It has to look like some sort of freak accident.
