Will reading born of shadows first ruin the other books for me?

I bought the book Born of shadows (League Novel) by Sherrilyn Kenyon based off not only did the cover look epic, but the short paragraph about it seemed cool enough... anyways come to find out its a book in a series and its not the first. so anyone else who has read them.. would reading born of shadows first deter the experience of the others? Thanks.
