What book would you recommend for me?

Dune by Frank Herbert is probably the best sci-fi book I've ever read. It's magnificently addictive. I loved it. Get through the first 20 pages, they're a bit slow, but afterwards, I promise you won't be able to put it down. The book's lasted over forty years and still finds new fans. It's extraordinary.
