Is it legal to carry a concealed knife with a blade of 6" in NJ?

I have no intention of hurting anyone. I was a boy scout and have grown a habit of carrying a knife on me at all times. Also, I'm going to school in Camden so it couldn't hurt to have a self defense weapon (I know how to handle it). Also, are throwing knives illegal to carry? I know "ballistic knives" (means any weapon or other device capable of lethal use and which can propel a knife blade) are illegal but a throwing knife isn't exactly propelled by a "device" it is thrown.
