Should this become a major statistic for pitchers?

Innings pitched reflects more on coaching decisions than the pitcher. How much leeway do you give the starter? How is your bullpen? How close is the game? I'd stick with ERA or WHIP or K/BB, because that's more reflective of the pitcher's ability.
